Highlights of Today's Meeting
Keep Wearing Rotary Pins -- You Need to Wear Them
President Doug Feco asked those that forgot to wear their pins to stand up.  If you forgot to wear it he asked that you put a dollar in the box being passed around! The dollars raised will be matched by Doug and donated to our Charitable Foundation for scholarships.
Rotary Structure
Doug Feco talked about the Rotary Structure.  There are three parts: Rotary International; Rotary Foundation; and Rotary Clubs.

He reminded us that our club falls into the 5240 district, which encompasses four counties, 3300 members and 73 clubs!

He also talked about the two important meetings in our district - District Assembly and District Conference. This year's District Conference will be Friday, October 6, 2017 - Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Ventura Beach Marriott. Visit the district website for more information and to register.
Rotary Vocational Moment
Jim Tokatlian was our Vocational Moment this morning - Nu_star Glass & Mirror. He talked about when he attended PRLS and how he and others helped a fellow Rotarian.
Rat Fink
BJ Anderson was our Rat Fink and she talked about our Rotary member Classifications and then questioned members about who might be in a specific category.

RMCP - Risk Management Continuity Planning Committee Update
Jim Lowry reminded us that there will be one opening on the RMCP committee for the fiscal year that runs from September 2017 through October 2018. Election will be held the first week in September.
Bond & Birdies Golf Tournament
Jim Visage talked about this year's golf tournament and the need for golfers and tee signs too!  Read the flyer below for more information.
Medal of Valor Dinner
Sgt. Chris Johnson talked about this year's Peace Officers Association of Ventura County's upcoming Medal of Valor Dinner planned for October 7, 2017. (See flyer below for sponsorship opportunities and ticket prices and click on the link below for more information about the event.)
Rotary Foundation Donation=Dodger Tickets
Lisa Brough auctioned off two tickets to the Dodger game and the money raised went directly to the Rotary Foundation.  Maggie Kestly was the winning bid!  Thank you!

PROGRAM
For the Troops
Paula Cornell

We had the pleasure of hearing from Paula Cornell and her organization For the Troops.

For The Troops is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing members of the American military with “We Care” packages containing basic necessities, goodies, games and—most of all—a show of support.

Since its inception in 2005, For The Troops has substantially grown in volunteers and donors, and has distributed more than 177,000 packages year-round to American troops who risk their lives overseas every day—far away from the comforts of home.

Their cost is about $24,000 per month on postage and $10,000 per month on items for each package - they mail 1800 packages each month.

She also read letters from servicemen who have received their packages and said they are always looking for more volunteers!

Important Information to Read

Medal of Valor Awards Ceremony

October 7, 2017 | Air Force One Pavilion at the Reagan Library

The Medal of Valor is awarded to officers for extraordinary bravery, above and beyond the call of duty, where risk of life actually existed and the officer was aware of such risk; where failure to take such action would not justify censure. Honorees and guests will enjoy a catered dinner and a tour of the library.

For tickets contact Randy Watkins at (805) 794-1570, Shawn Holzberger at (805) 279-0490, or Jeremy Paris at (805) 797-7105.

Thank you for reading this week's bulletin!
