Fernando Estevez
MUFG Union Bank
V.P. Branch Manager
Family:
Wife Anarosa and son Fernando J.
Why I'm in Rotary:
I am honored to be part of the Simi Sunrise Rotary. The ideals of being of service have been part of my life goals and I am passionate to be of service to those in need, especially in my community.
My passion to help others was instilled in me at an early age by my family. I started helping through church by cooking in the streets of Dominican Republic for homeless and orphanage children. I continued these efforts, during the mid to late 90s, as I volunteered at a church in Van Nuys, California, once a week cooking for homeless.
What people should know about me:
My wife and I have been Simi Valley residents for over 15 years. I worked at Union Bank in the Wood Ranch office as V.P. Branch Manager. I became a member of Simi Sunrise during this time, but due to my business schedule, was unable to devote as much time to the Club and the community as I wanted. I've now joined the staff of Union Bank Simi Valley, El Paseo Office. It always has been my goal to serve the community I live in. This new location affords me the opportunity to do so and I feel the best way to do this is to return as an active member of Simi Sunrise. I'm looking forward to contributing as part of the Club again.
Anarosa F. Estevez, EDD, my better half, has been in the educational field for over twenty five years. She is currently working as principal at the renowned Vaughn Next Century Learning Center, a Charter School in the city of San Fernando.
Strange, but true:
I am legally blind from my right eye, so do not surprise me on that side. I cannot see you.
Also, I survived quicksand during a fishing trip.
Passions, hobbies, interests:
I love Cooking and Working-out. I have combined the two by learning to cook clean, healthy meals and staying in shape.
What I'm really good at:
I am very good at developing teams. It brings me a sense of accomplishment to teach young people what I know best and help them develop in our business. When my team is successful, I am successful.
One goal I’d like to accomplish during my lifetime:
I would like to write a cookbook.
Favorite place to vacation/visit:
I really enjoyed Spain. It has a lot of history, a language I speak, and great food. Mexico is also one of my favorites. I have been to Mexico City and Colonial Queretaro and Guanajuato and Baja. I would like to see more.
On my bucket list:
My wife and I would like to take the El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) in Spain. It is a 500 mile hiking trail that would take us from France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
