President Deb Davila talked about the theme of diversity this morning and said that Rotary unites the world and reflects humanity.  She said that at the RI convention they set a goal of increasing women members by 30% by 2023. She also highlighted an article in the July Rotarian Magazine by Tamara Smiley Hamilton and her mission to make people award of their prejudices.   Click here to read the entire article now!
DUES TO INCREASE IN AUGUST
Deb Davila announced that the board approved at the meeting last week to increase the dues to $88/month.  This increase is due to the fact that the Grand Vista Hotel has raised their rates.
VOLUNTEER TOMORROW TO WORK ON WELCOME TO SIMI VALLEY
Jim Lowry talked about the Welcome to Simi Valley sign and that the three Rotary clubs here in Simi Valley rotate each year who will take care of the sign. (Weeding, cleaning, etc.)  This is our year!  Tomorrow, Friday, July 26 at 7:30 a.m. if you are interested in helping out, please meet at Chick-fil-A and everyone will carpool to the sign.
CAJUN FINANCIAL UPDATE
Stella Ortiz was not able to be here this morning so Deb Davila announced that our net was $18,000.  This year the committee worked hard to cut back on expenses and reduce the budget, but the bad weather on Sunday really hurt our income.  Next week we will all discuss the results and the future of this festival.
SIMI SUNRISE ROTARY CHARITABLE FOUNDATION UPDATE
Chas Wilson is the new president of the Simi Sunrise Rotary Charitable Foundation.  He announced that Kailey Wagner will be our Board Rep and that we need members to take on a 1 year Club Rep position and a 3 year board position.  If you are interested please contact him.
