President Bill opened the meeting by asking Dan Jaeger to do what he does best - read us a poem. Dan entertained us by reading the lyrics of a song written by John Prine called The Great Compromise, very appropriate for the times. I won't go into details about what he did with the microphone. You'll have to ask Dan about that. Thanks Dan!
Bill then handed out 10 free passes to a comedy show at the Ventura County Fairgrounds featuring Rob Schneider and David Spade.
Bill ended by letting us know that the two gentlemen he met at Jerry's Coffee Shop last week, Don Rusnar and Joe Piechowski, were both with us today as Guests. Bill again reminded us that we need to keep our eyes and ears open for potential members, especially in the younger age group. This is a group that is looking for a way to give back and to have fellowship.
New Members
As a reminder, Kathy Scroggin had told us about Together Talks as a way to communicate with prospective new members. This is a small, informal ZOOM meeting to introduce Rotary, ask questions and get to know each other better. If you know someone interested in knowing more about Rotary, contact Kathy and she will take it from there.
Keep an eye out for quality people to bring into our club. They just need to be asked.

Larry gave us a final update on Movie Night. We are in the black and everything is pretty much lined up. But there are still tickets available so please keep sharing on Facebook as well as the following link:
Bill challenged each of us to sell at least one ticket in this home stretch.
And, as a Thank You to Larry, Ryan and Leigh, Bill presented them all with a genuine Bull Whip. There was some concern with Leigh though in his familiarity with the Whip and his eagerness to use it.
Leigh with his new Whip....
The Halloween movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, is still moving forward. More details to follow. This will be our last Drive In event of the season.
Thanks to John Tolson for coordinating this effort and to Dorina Timbol for helping out. It was a huge success with a parade of cars that took about an hour to pass. Great Community Spirit!
Rayna Furman, one of our Guests today, followed up on a previous announcement that Jake Finch had given. This is in regard to providing school supplies for the kids that are Distance Learning. She and Jake are coordinating a Supply Drive and then getting those supplies to the homes. The challenge at this point is getting the supplies distributed. Attached is a Flyer that they are asking you to display. They are also asking if you will host a Drop Box as well. And, they are asking for supplies. Please see Rayna for more details.

Deb thanked Peter Cicciari for his help as a Member at Large. Congratulations Peter!
Deb also thanked Jim Visage for his efforts in leading the Food Drive for seniors in our Community by partnering with Senior Concerns. The result was getting over 4000 pounds of food out to those in need. Because of this the District recognized our Club for Outstanding Covid Humanitarian Response. Well done Jim!

Mr. Art Bouvet
Art Bouvet, from Del Monte joined us today. Art, a 10 year resident of Simi Valley, has worked for Del Monte for 17 years. He started working out of Port Heuneme as a Quality Assurance inspector for bananas that were shipped from Costa Rica, Eucador and Guatemala.
He now manages three locations at Port Heuneme and coordinates the Del Monte food donation program. The donations reach not only California, but Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan as well and have totaled more than 8 million pounds of fruit since this past March. He and his Team of 15 work with every Food Share program in Ventura County. One of those mentioned in his talk today was Feeding the Frontline. He has held 35 Food Drives with them so far this year and this includes giving out hand sanitizer and masks as well.
It was quite evident that Art is very passionate about making sure Del Monte food does not go to waste. Even when food can't be donated, he will personally take it to the homeless just so that it isn't thrown away. Thank you for all you do Art!
