August 6th
Candace Gray of the Simi Valley Senior Center spoke about the Senior Center's mission and programs, keeping seniors active in the community. The center offers workshops, games, fitness programs, and many other services that directly address the needs of seniors. Along with Bill Oliver and Bette King of the Council on Aging, they spoke about Meals on Wheels and providing meals to homebound seniors. Family of Rotary invited Simi Sunrise members to support the Meals on Wheels fundraiser, Broadway Here We Come on August 23rd.
August 20th
Nikki Lian and Gabby Sifuentes spoke about founding Body Brain Train, a nonprofit that gets seniors with neurological disorders moving. Particularly with Parkinsons, consistent movement and exercise slows progress and improves cognitive and physical abilities. The programs are donation based and no one is turned away! They led us with an example workout that was a ton of fun.

Lily Gray is proposed for membership as of the August 13th board meeting.
The International Day of Peace Celebration will be September 20th at Rancho Simi Community Park outdoor ampitheater at 3pm-5pm with no cost to attend. Singers from Abbe Road will be among the performers!
The Free Clinic is seeking volunteers for a Depression Awareness event, see flyer below.
