Highlights of Today's Meeting
President Mike McCaffrey talked about how this is our Cajun Festival's 30th year.  He highlighted the non-profits that benefited from the income we generate from our festival. 
PROGRAM
ALL ABOUT CAJUN
We had the pleasure of having Kelly Zirbes and Perry Robertson entertain us this morning as we kicked off our Cajun & Blues Music Festival's 30th year.
This morning was all about Cajun!
Cajun Chair Stella Ortiz introduced her executive Cajun Board and thanked them for all their hard work.  She said that the following areas were addressed for this years' festival:
1. Reducing costs - they have been
2. Ticket sale changes - member will no longer be able to purchase additional tickets (everyone receives 9) at the member price.  They will need to pay full price now.
3. Advertising - more dollars now will be spent locally
4. There will be new backstage policies announces shortly
5. She would like EVERY member to sign up for 8 hours -- in any capacity they would like!
Bill Klepper and Larry Borovay highlighted the talent this year!  There are some great new acts along with our old successful entertainers!
Bill Klepper, Jake Finch and Demi Fox talked about this year's marketing plan, which as stated earlier will be more locally promoted.  Demi asked that you go on Facebook and "LIKE" the event, Jake talked about the new signs, and Bill talked about how we will be promoted through the Canyon Club.  Other media outlets include the Acorn, The Ranch, and social media platforms.
Jim Lowry talked about how he and Stephanie Shannon are handling security this year along with the responsibilities that go along with that volunteer position. They will also be hiring a private security company. They need around 60 volunteers each day. 
Rob Hitchcock talked about volunteer sign ups and how the online site will be up this weekend.  Sign up sheets will also be available at future club meetings. 
Corporate Sponsor Chairs Deb Davila and Carol Boucher announced our current sponsor list and thanked those members that were part of this group! We have more than $44,000 to date!
Cajun Banner Babe Karen Thompson, along with her sidekicks Fernando Estevez and Dan Jaeger, encouraged everyone to sign up for banners today!  And you know what, lots of us did!
Membership Matters
Deb Davila said that she forgot to mention that Bruce Bromberg also  had 100% attendance at our club meetings last year! 
Cajun Updates
Stella Ortiz reminded us of the first ALL HANDS Cajun Festival meeting planned for March 12th at 6:00 p.m. at Monte Vista.
 
Santa Anita Race Day - March 23
Jerry Shaffner said he needs to know ASAP if you are interested in going on Saturday, March 23rd to the races.  He needs a minimum of 40 people.
RMCP Board Candidates
Rob Hitchcock announced that Jake Finch is the new president of this board and that since two members were stepping off they need two new members.  The club was asked to approve Harry VanDyck and Jim Visage as new board members and the club did unanimously.
Check for Every 15 Minute Program
Jocko Arledge announced that our club will be presenting the SVUSD Every 15 Minute program with a $500 check.  This is part of our community service push.
Kiwanis Roundup Needs Volunteers
The Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley is looking for Volunteers for Round Up Country Music Festival, being held Saturday March 30, 2019 at the Humming Bird Nest.
 
Duties will include roaming the Event, looking for potential safety issues with Guests, Guests Violating our basic rules, ensuring all Guests Drinking Alcohol have a proper Wrist Band, and may be asked to check bags upon entry to the Venue.

They ask that each volunteer provide 4 hours of their time, and in turn they will provide Lunch, and of course enjoy the music happening throughout the day.

Middle School Mock Trial Needs Volunteers
Dr. P. along with John Baxter, said that volunteers are need March 8 and March 9 for the Mock Trial Competition.

Tasks include volunteer check in, set up, clean up, and Blue shirts (students who "adopt" a team and serve as runners between the Tab Room and Court Room).

FAYM Planned for March 23
Lori Cromley talked about the upcoming FAYM planned for March 23. More details next week, but volunteers will be needed!
Simi Sunrise Charitable Foundation.card are now being sold!  The new cards are being sold for 10 for $100 or $10/piece. Remember, they can be used for all occasions -- birthdays, condolences, get well and more!
