Doug Feco asked everyone to invite a guest to attend one of our meetings. Introduce you friends and colleagues to Rotary and help them understand what a great group of people we are and all the wonderful things we do in our community and around the world.
Relay for Life - October 1 and 2
Jake Finch talked about how our club will field a Relay for Life team this year to support cancer research. The event is a 24-hour held at Leman Park. Sign up sheets will be out next week.
Sam Wolf talked about the backpacks being distributed, and introduced Melissa Kagan from the group home that received the backpacks. He reminded everyone about this Saturday's Samaritan Center's Yard Sale on September 3 from 7 -9 a.m. and that volunteers are needed. He also reminded everyone to save -- Saturday, September 24 -- to participate in the Tierra Rejada clean up day and October 8 for the fire alarm installation project. See the flyers in this bulletin for more information.

Family:
Married 39 years to Phyllis, 2 children, 2 grandchildren
My passions, hobbies, interests:
Singing, racquetball, motorcycling, and possibly pickle ball.
What I'm really good at:
I love to solve problems. They may be word or number puzzles or technical challenges. People problems not so much.
Favorite place to vacation/visit:
We spent a magical anniversary at Club Med on Moorea Island in Tahiti. Very tropical, very relaxing. Truly amazing. Kind of "other worldly".
Most embarrassing moment:
Do I get 2? I was giving a presentation at work. There was a discussion going on between 2 of the attendees and while I was waiting for them to conclude, the tip of the pointer that I was using managed to get lodged in the fly of my pants. It took a little doing to extract it.
Oh, and then there was the time at work when the entire seat of my pants ripped out. I found a stapler to fashion a temporary repair and then snuck down the back stairwell to the privacy of my car.

Family:
Married 30 Years - 4 Children Ages from 29 years old to 39 years old - raise 2 Granddaughters and have another 8 Grandkids with 1 on its way and 1 Great Grandchild.
Why I'm in Rotary:
Kiwanis wouldn't take me - neither would AARP - I joined Rotary not knowing anything about it. I stayed in Rotary as it opened a door that was totally unexpected - a door to my visions and ambitions - a door to Friendship and Goodwill - a door to possibilities that can become reality. In other words "The Right Door".
Rotary Moment:
My Rotary moment was visiting a Orphanage in Mexicali Mexico and meeting the children - In particular, this one boy who came to me with a toy car that had to be assembled. He started talking to me in Spanish in which I couldn't understand a word as he was talking fast and excited. I realized he wanted me to put the car together. After about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to put the car together I was successful even though there were a few spare parts - this boy would push the car against the wall and it would break up and we would put it back together again and smash against the wall over and over - I soon realized that I didn't have to learn Spanish as his laughter said it all.
Strange, but true:
I eat the crust on bread
Passions, hobbies, interests:
I love the arts - I had worked with Actor Buddy Ebsen in regards to a series of Artworks that he painted that depicted his Character "Uncle Jed" from the Beverly Hillbillies and continue to run the website www.unclejedcountry.com and have been working with Artist Dennis Lewan for a little over 20 years and also run his website www.dennislewan.com
I have done several walk-on rolls - Scrubs and the Drew Carey show and as a child I was in a Budweiser Commercial.
What I'm really good at:
nothing - absolutely nothing - (my wife answered this question)
One goal I’d like to accomplish during my lifetime:
Remember all my Kids / Grandkids and my Wife's Birthday
Favorite place to vacation/visit:
Pacoima
On my bucket list:
To come back to life after I kick the Bucket
Most embarrassing moment:
Waking up each morning next to my wife without my make-up on....
The ingredients that make up Larry Borovay:
Sugar & Spice and everything nice
