PROGRAM
Annika Paseta
We had the pleasure of hearing from Interact and high school senior Annika Paseta about the projects that she has created and their impact.

1. Anikiu, LLC - she started this company with the intent of creating things that would represent different cultures.  What started as her embellishing shorts has now become a company that manufactures backpacks in India through GirlUp and then sells them here. Her motto is: Visible, Unique, Comfortable and Useful. She is looking for businesses to purchase them ($60/backpack) and then donate them to girls who need them throughout the world. Her designs represent different cultures and areas (like GMO's) that need to have more attention drawn to them.

2. YeaCal --Young Entrepreneur Association of California- she started this youth entrepreneur program in Ventura County to encourage students, like herself, to think big and believe in themselves and start businesses that can make a difference.

3. FAYM - Festival of Arts Youth Movement - she helped create this festival last year and had the opportunity to travel to Mexico to see how the monies raised were spent.

Polio Update - We're this close!
There have been only 19 cases this year of Polio due to the wild polio virus.  They have all occurred in Pakistan and Afghanistan.  The most recent case was 4 weeks ago.  Click on the link below for more information.
