Family: I live with wife Chris, Grandchildren Arianna and Bella.
Why I'm in Rotary:
I am involved with Rotary for the same reason I think most of our club members are; to join forces with others to do good works in our community and beyond.
Passions, hobbies, interests:
Trying to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than I. I coordinate a twice monthly breakfast for the homeless in downtown LA and am involved in a prison ministry run by a Jesuit priest known as Reformative Justice.
Favorite place to vacation/visit:
Bob Bibb’s house on the Dingle peninsula in Ireland!!!
On my bucket list:
Visit every MLB and NFL stadium in the U.S. and of course, attend the Kentucky Derby.
Most embarrassing moment:
Responding to Steve Johnson’s request to fill out this form…

Associate Dean for Doctor of Ministry and Continuing Education, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry
Fuller Theological Seminary
Family:
Married to Kristi for 39 years, 2 children Lindsay and Daniel, their spouses Chris and Malia, and grandchildren: Nora and Quinn, and Cole. By the end ofSeptember all of our kids and grandkids will be living in the Boulder CO area. Southwest Air has two daily non-stops from Burbank to Denver!
Why I'm in Rotary:
I joined Rotary in 1994 because I wanted to give back to Simi Valley. We moved to Simi in 1979 to begin work on the pastoral staff at Simi Covenant Church. I fell in love with this community and I found Rotary to be one of the best ways to connect with other people who also havea heart to make our community better. Archbishop Desmond Tutu wrote: “Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” I believe this, and this is Rotary at its best.
Passions, hobbies, interests:
I love to hike. Getting outdoors doeswonders for my soul. I enjoy tending to my roses.
What I'm really good at:
I love helping people discover what they are good at, what makes them feel most alive, and then encouraging them to take risks by stepping into those new adventures.
One goal I'd like to accomplish:
I’ve got one more book in me that I need to write.
Favorite place to vacation/visit?
My work at Fuller has taken me to some amazing places around the world where I have met wonderful people (Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, China, Egypt, South Africa, the United Kingdom). These experiences have stretched me, and given me an appreciation for the ways other people live and believe. My travels have also given me a profound, but not naive, love for the United States and the freedoms we enjoy and strive towards.
