Meghan Bemis was inducted into our club today! She is the Executive Director of Visiting Angels.
Nick Frankle was sent by District Governor John Weiss to thank Mary Paseta and Dorina Timbol for making youth programs so successful!
He also talked about going to Honduras to see a water project dedicated to Heather Frankle.
Mike McCaffrey announced that Craig and Michelle Foster, along with their daughter Heather, will be moving to Northern California. Rodney Skidmore presented Michelle with an empty frame for her to put in her Certificate of Fundraising and thanked her for her work in Simi Valley over the years.
Doug Feco gave his first ever non-Rotarian award to Sharon Hartman for her dedication to youth.
Mike Mutal talked about the club electing a new representative to the Foundation. The vote will take place next week - all are welcome to volunteer!
Blood Drive Planned August 16th
Jim Robison announced the next blood drive will be on Thursday, August 16.
Halloween Committee Volunteers Needed
Leigh Dominic asked for volunteers to be on this committee - they will meet next week after the meeting.

Savi Bhim
Savi Bhim talked how our districts are grouped. She will also be our District Governor next year and she talked about Areas of Focus and how our club projects support the following areas:
1. Saving mothers and children
2. Education and literacy
3. Narrowing the gender disparity
4. Clean water and sanitation
5. Supporting the local economies
6. Peace and conflict resolution.
Savi also talked about wanting to have a logo for her year as District Governor with the theme - "One World, One Rotary". She held a contest for students to design the logo and there were 65 entries. The winner of the contest was Riley McDaniel, a 7th grader at Benton Middle School in la Mirada -- a school for the arts. He was awarded a certificate by Rob Hitchcock and Mike McCaffrey presented him with a $100 award.
