A Request from Our
Vocational Service Committee
Committee Chair Geovanny Ragsdale requests that we each take a moment to respond to this 2-minute survey to help guide our Vocational Committee and the work they are planning for for this Fall.
We had the pleasure of hearing from Curt Osteroudt about the history of Corriganville. He talked about the movies that had been filmed in that area over the years and the history of the ranch.
The name Corriganville originated because an actor, by the name of Ray Bernard, purchased the land in 1937. He was known as "Crash Corrigan" so he named it after himself! He expanded the property in 1949, opened it to the public and started presenting rodeos on the property as well as stunt shows. He was forced to sell after a divorce to a group associated with Bob Hope, which renamed it Hopetown. They had hoped to expand it and make it more of an amusement area but in the end parcels were sold off and the park district came to own part of it and renamed it Corriganville.
