Highlights of Today's Meeting
President Mike McCaffrey talked about many things including how the money raised from our Voo Doo on the Bayou Haunted House will help support World Polio Day on October 24th this year and how Rotary has an exchange for adults too!
Richard Moffett traveled to New York this summer and brought our club flag to exchange.  He gave ours and received the following club flags: Syracuse, Rochester, Hamilton, Cazenovia, and Canandaigua.
Rotary Foundation and Our Club
Lisa Brough talked about how our club raised more than $51,000 last year for the Rotary Foundation and how she is setting a goal of raising 10% more this year.  This could be accomplished by raising $670 more for Polio Plus and $1831 for our Annual Giving from our club.

VooDoo on the Bayou Updates

PROGRAM
Guide Dogs of America
We had the wonderful opportunity to learn about Guide Dogs of America from John Albarran, Nancy Hawthorne, Diana Janke, Bridget Winnett and Marshall Schrago.

Guide Dogs of America empowers people who are blind and visually impaired to live with increased independence, confidence and mobility by providing expertly matched guide dog partners. Their services are provided free of charge and available to people within the U.S. and Canada. They shared information on the cost of raising a dog ($48,000), the breeds that are offered and that only 40-50% of the dogs make it to become guide dogs.
