President Deb Davila talked about how happy she was that DG Savi Bhim was with us today! They joined the club around the same time in the Fall of 2005. They worked together (really thrown together) when Steve Smith asked them to manage the Cajun Unplugged area the first year of their membership! From there on it was evident that Savi loved Rotary and when she became the 2013-2014 Club President our club was awarded "Best Overall Club" in the District! Every week during her presidency she called us the "Best Club in the World" and we lived up to that reputation!
President Deb presented Martha Macker with her Blue Badge this morning and gave a Blue Badge to our exchange student Yujin Jeong.
Complete the Survey!
Chase Wilson and President Deb talked about a survey that is on your table this morning. The survey -Leadership Development and Interest Questionnaire - will be placed on the tables each week and emailed. We are trying to get the survey online too to simplify the process. EVERYONE must complete the survey!!!
Haunted House Volunteers Needed
Mike McCaffrey talked about the need for volunteers as we are getting close to our opening weekend on September 20th. He said, just like with Cajun volunteers, ask your family and friends to come out and participate. The haunted house will need 30-40 volunteers each night.
Jake Finch said that Jerry Shaffner has agreed to chair the Thanksgiving Dinner at the Senior Center this year! Jake Finch talked about a fundraiser that will be held at Stonebridge Community Church, 48323 Cochran Street on Saturday, October 5 to raise money for fallen firefighters. Bill Klepper has agreed to make pancakes in the morning starting at 7:00 a.m. They are looking for volunteers to help out!

District Governor
Savi dancing in to our meeting!
We had the pleasure of welcoming this year's District Governor, our very own, Savi Bhim. She shared some of her wonderful stories and experiences she had in the 14 years she has been a member of our club and shared photos from her visits at other clubs throughout the District since she has become DG in July.
She talked about the history of the wording of the Four-Way Test -- those 24 words that offer Rotarians an opportunity to reflect and have self-exploration about the choices we make in our daily lives.
One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The Four-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as RI president) when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy.
This 24-word test for employees to follow in their business and professional lives became the guide for sales, production, advertising and all relations with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company is credited to this simple philosophy.
Our club surprised Savi with the announcement that every year from now on we will be giving out one scholarship in her name!
