President Mike McCaffrey shared a video and talked about the Rotary's six areas of focus:
Peace and conflict prevention/resolution.
Disease prevention and treatment.
Water and sanitation.
Maternal and child health.
Basic education and literacy.
Economic and community development.
He also shared a video about the making of the upcoming Group 5 meeting planned for April 23 at Moorpark County Club where we will hear from Dick Rutan and the Rutan Model 76 Voyager, which was the first aircraft to fly around the world without stopping or refueling. It was piloted by Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager.
He also reminded us about upcoming District-wide events coming up:
April 6 - Community Service Project - TBA
June 20 - Dodger versus Giants Baseball Game
Richard Moffett also had us all recite the 4-Way test.
Vocational Interview
Harvey Mahler talked about his vocation as a dentist this morning.
Family of Rotary Valentine's Day Potluck
Herschel Berger reminded us about a potluck dinner being planned with a Valentine's Day for Saturday, February 9. The dinner will be at the Berger House, 3463 Sunset Place at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite dish to feed 15-20 people. It's also BYOB!
Camp Rotary Clean Up Day - If there is no rain
Leigh Seaton said that we will be cleaning the bathrooms at Camp Rotary this weekend at 8:00 a.m. as long as it doesn't rain!
Happy Face Maintenance
Bill Klepper talked about a maintenance morning this Saturday, as long as it doesn't rain, up at Happy Face hill. Meet at Jerry's for breakfast at 7:00 a.m. or at 7:45 a.m. at the top of Kuehner. Bring a steel rake and a weed wacker.
Donations Needed - For the Troops
Mel Vines said the Interact students at Apollow and Simi Institute for Career Education are helping the For the Troops collect supplies. Please see the list below and bring items to next week's Rotary meeting.

Career Education Operations Ventura County
We had the pleasure of hearing from Juliet Herman about the VC Innovates program through the Ventura County Office of Education. She talked about how the $30 million in grants that they received have been spent and the impact that they are making on students and employers within the county. She highlighted the way the program combines robust academics with advanced technical skills that can be used both for college and careers.
