In honor of World Polio Day today, President Deb asked everyone to color their pinky purple. When Rotarians participate in polio vaccines, children who receive them are marked with purple dye on their pinky!

Bill Klepper presented his 7th and 8th Paul Harris Fellows to Rich Perini and Jerry Shaffner as a thank you and appreciation for all that they do for the club!
President Deb reminded everyone that we will be having an OFFSITEmeeting on Thursday, November 7 at Royal High School.
Bring Your Shoes!
Meg Bemis reminded us that the shoe drive is under way and will continue through the beginning of December.
Ask your friends and family and if you can, solicit your co-workers. Put a box in the lunch room. We are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes.
Please bring them to the meetings on Thursdays, or you can drop it off at Meg's office - Visiting Angels, 1176 Road Runner Way, Suite B, Simi Valley.
ALSO - On Tuesday, October 29 at 5 p.m. at her office they will be bagging the shoes that have been donated already! If you can stop by to help, please do!

Thanksgiving Dinner Going Strong
Jerry Shaffner reported that the turkey's - 72 of them - will be delivered a week early -- and that Dr. P. will be taking care of them at Monte Vista! He said one his employees started a drive to raise money for pies on Facebook and has raised more than $1500!
Richard Perini said that we had a large attendance last weekend but volunteers are still needed -- actors too! Saturday during that day special needs adults have been invited to tour the haunted house for free.
Work Party Planned at Camp Rotary
Leigh Seaton is organizing a work party at Camp Rotary - Saturday, October 26 at 8 am (so it looks great for YES!) We will be cleaning up the benches there. Please bring paint brushes, drills and electric sanders if you've got them!
YES! Needs Snacks and for your to help promoted it!
Gregg Hartman talked about how everyone should be spreading the word to students in high school to attend this year's YES! planned for Saturday, November 16. See flyer below for more information and download it to your computer and start spreading the word!
We also need everyone to start bringing packaged snacks to the meetings.
Rotary Beer Crawl - Sunday, November 10
Dr. P. talked about the upcoming Beer Crawl that will now take place on Sunday, November 10 at 12:30 p.m. Four breweries will be included: Enegran, Tarantual Hill, 14 Canyons and 5 Threads.
President Deb talked about an event the Rotary Club of Simi Sunset is presenting on Tuesday, October 29 - Vocational Night. Please see flyer below for more information and to reserve your seat today!

Jake Finch and Jenny Saturday shared a beautiful and heartfelt video about their breast cancer journeys and shared additional information about their experiences. Jake shared startling statistics such as 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer; 1 in 39 will die; and that men too can get breast cancer.
