President Mike McCaffrey talked about many things this morning but he highlighted one important one -- World Polio Day, which is October 24th this year. He shared a video and said that our club should get involved promoting it and a good way would be at our Haunted House this October.
Richard Perini talked about the building of the Haunted house and the need for individuals who know CPR to be on hand in case of an emergency. He also said he's looking for two $1500 sponsors.
Smoke Detector Installation In October 20
Leigh Seaton talked about a new location for our club to participate in Smoke Detector Installations. Planned for Saturday, October 20 at the Tradewinds Mobilehome Park - 5150 E Los Angeles Ave. More information to come soon.
Rotary Information Night Next Tuesday, September 11th
Deb Davila announced a Rotary Information Night next Tuesday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. at B.J. Anderson's house -- 4265 Avenida Simi.
YES! Volunteers Wanted
Gregg Hartman talked about this year's YES!, planned for November 3rd, and highlighted one attendees experiences and the impact it had on her life! He said volunteers are needed and sign up sheets are on the tables now!

Craig Needham
Living in an Iron Lung
We had the wonderful opportunity to hear about Craig Needham's mom who contracted Polio at the age of 29 and lived the rest of her life in an iron lung. She wrote a book called Looking Up and he shared wonderful details about her life and the lives of his two sisters. He also thanked us and Rotary for bringing Polio to the forefront and along with the Bill Gates Foundation helping to almost eradicate this disease completely.
