Our club is a Peacebuilder Club. The Peacebuilder Club program is designed to enhance Rotary International’s mission of, “advancing world understanding, goodwill and peace” through the promotion of programs and projects that align with our organization’s Seven Areas of Focus – in particular, the first: Peace, Conflict Prevention and Conflict Resolution.
This morning we invited administrators and principals from the SVUSD to come to our meeting and receive the book below, which will be placed in their school libraries.

The book is by Michael Nagler, The Nonviolence Handbook - A Guide for Practical Action. The forward in the book is by Mahatma Gandhi and says: For all those who have the faith that humanity can be redeemed by nonviolence and the courage to prove it.  Nonviolence is the greatest power humankind has been endowed with.

Scott Phillips
District Assistant Governor Ryan Mills introduced Scott.
Our District Governor Scott Phillips talked about how he has visited so many clubs in our district and that he can clearly see that we are all making an effort to make our communities a better place.

He talked about the RI President Jennifer Jones' theme of Imagine and that she has made the following initiatives as part of her year:
--Inclusion
--Comfort and care of existing members
--Empowering women

He talked about his own theme - Let's Get Loud.  He said he picked the color pink because it stands out.  He said we should "get loud" about our club, our members, our community and to show our passion for doing good in the world.  He said don't keep the gift of Rotary a secret that we should always be sharing it and to remember to wear our Rotary pins too!

He shared his impact reporting webpage, which really shows the value of volunteers and the hours they spend on projects in their community and world-wide.

The next Food Fanatic dinner is Saturday, November 12 and the theme is Thai.  If you want to attend please let Demi Fox know by texting her at: 805.490.1401
