2022 - 2023 Rotary Theme
President Laura thanked those that helped at the Samaritan Center this past weekend including Ryan Valencia who organized the day and Chas Wilson for working on their internet connection.

She also highlighted the recently held Community Needs assessment survey that was discussed at a meeting this past week that many members attended.  The survey highlighted the needs of our many non-profits for more awareness and consumable products and how our club can help be a connector by helping bring more resources to them.  One example as the Community Garden that needed support.  Ryan Valencia was able to connect them with Adventist Health Simi Valley to arrange for a $1500 donation.  At an upcoming Chamber of Commerce Breakfast our three local Rotary Clubs will attend and Savi Bhim will speak about the needs of our local non-profits.
Read the full Community Service survey and results on our webpage by clicking here Community Service Analytics then looking on the left for downloaded files.

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do is a test used by Rotarians world-wide as a moral code for personal and business relationships.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Ryan Valencia talked about the many projects that are in the works right now for our club.  (See below for the Tierra Rejada Clean Up Day that is coming up soon!)

One important one is the campaign -  #FeedSimi.  This new hashtag is being created to that we can bring awareness to food insecurity in our community.  We hope to partner with other local charities in the future.  Stay tuned for more details!

In addition to the Tierra Rejada clean up day, we will also be having the following community service days:
October 7 - Happy Face Clean Up
October 15 - Relay for Life
October 29 - Trail clean up at Hummingbird Ranch
November 23 - Senior Thanksgiving Dinner
John Tolson talked about the ongoing project of feeding the homeless at the Samaritan Center. Every second Thursday of the month our club brings food that is prepared by the American Jewish University.  What started as 20 trays is now 40 trays of food.

CLEAN UP DAY
September 24th

What:  Moorpark and Simi Valley Rotary Clubs will conduct our "Adopt-a-Road Program" trash pickup.

Where:  Our clubs will be picking up trash along Tierra Rejada Road between Moorpark and Simi Valley.

Time:  8:00am to 10:00am (approx.)

Meeting Place:  Elvenstar Ranch — 15540 LaPeyre Rd, Moorpark, CA  93021
On Tierra Rejada Rd, take the LaPeyre Road turnoff (Elegant Gardens Nursery location), it's on the South side of Tierra Rejada. Continue for a 1/4 mile and the ranch is on your left. We will have refreshments available and a great opportunity for fellowship.

·         All participants (no exceptions) will receive a safety briefing lead by our Rotary Project Leaders.

·         The County of Ventura has placed signs with the Club names and the Rotary logo at each end of Tierra Rejada.
·         We are inviting local press, so consider wear your Rotary attire for any pictures
·         The County will be providing vests, gloves, hats and trash bags. Please bring any trash pickup devices you may have.
·         Rain or Shine, though I don't think we have to worry about that.
