Demi was back running the show as Sergeant at Arms.  Sorry Bill....  And, of course, we had to stretch and exercise to open the meeting up.  A healthy way to start the day for sure!

Jake Finch lead the invocation this morning with a wonderful prayer.
Bill Fox lead us in our Pledge of Allegiance.  Since he couldn't be Sergeant at Arms, Bill was allowed to lead the Pledge.  That seemed to satisfy him.
Dan Gesell welcomed our Guests this morning.
President Bill commented on how nicely the El Patio Restaurant fundraiser turned out this past Tuesday.  20% of the proceeds received from between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM went to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Foundation.  Two of our members, Larry Borovay and BJ Anderson, are Board Members.  Bill said the turn out was great with a wonderful mix of community leaders and members.  A great example of a community in action with a lot of Rotarians in the mix.

Speaking of Rotarians in action, Bill mentioned that our Club has sponsored 15 Community Projects this year.  This is even more impressive given that we were in the middle of a pandemic.  Nice job everyone!

Bill closed by saying he's got something coming up to commemorate Memorial Day.  Stay tuned.....

I don't think Bill noticed his banner or at least he didn't acknowledge it.

We are meeting at the Junkyard In Person on May 27th

Please remember to bring a friend or an acquaintance to our next meeting.  This is a GREAT way to grow our membership!  And the guest's lunch is taken care of.

Team Ginny Update
Spread the message!

Dorina Timbol gave us another heart felt pep talk on Team Ginny.  She said that each and every one of us has an opportunity to help Ginny in some manner.  It can be as simple as sharing Team Ginny on social media or posting the Team Ginny flyer in your place of business.  She specifically thanked a Special Guest we had this morning, Steve Hise, for putting the Team Ginny flyer in his Newsletter.  That's called being a Rotarian before you're a Rotarian!  She also thanked another one of our Guests this morning, Thomas Herdering, who actually has donated a kidney and saved a life.

Also a reminder about Dorina's Facebook page and about copying the Save a Life note with phone number and posting it on your Facebook page.  And all business owners and friends of business owners, please exhibit the Team Ginny flyer in your business and send Dorina a picture of that.  Every bit helps and you never know where or how that hero will be found.

If you need to learn how to Share on social media, please reach out to Team Ginny and they will be glad to help.

Here's another link that can be shared as well:

No update this week on the event so this is last week's information:

The 2021 Oktoberfest event is being held on October 9th at the Rancho Simi Community Park, AKA the Duck Park.

Two breweries have come on board so far.  Larry is confident though that, with our motivated Beer Committee hard at work, more will soon follow.  Larry also mentioned that a German Oktoberfest Party Band, Hazelnuss Das Music, has been booked.  They specialize in Oktoberfest music. They will play for four hours and it will involve a lot of audience participation.
Save the date as volunteers will be needed.
A reminder from Leigh Seaton that the Happy Face Hill cleanup date is set for May 28th!!!!

We will meet at 8:30 AM at the dirt parking lot off of Kuehner near the entrance to Hummingbird Ranch.  Leigh expects it will take a couple, three of hours to complete the work.  In addition to a general cleanup, we will also be putting up 144 flags in honor of Memorial Day.  Aleve will be provided.  Bring gloves, rakes, weed wackers, etc., whatever you have.
Thanks to Dr. P, who can look at this guy anymore without Neil Young's song in your head?
'Ol Man Seaton also announced a date for the Smoke Alarm installation at the Crest Mobile Home Park here in Simi.  It is set for June 12th.  More details to follow.

======================
Deb Davila reminded us about Bill's Demotion.  It will be June 26th at 5:00 PM AND THE LOCATION HAS CHANGED!!!!.  Deb said that only about half of us have responded so please do so one way or the other for an accurate head count.

When Bill asks what the standing ovation was about when he left the meeting, tell him it had to do with Mike McAffrey coming back.

Steve P. is leading another Full Moon Hike next Tuesday, the 25th with details to follow.  It's a Super Moon this month, Steve said, and the actual Full Moon is Wednesday starting at 12:01 AM with an eclipse from 1:00 AM until 4:00 AM.  Pretty cool but pretty late (early?) which is why the hike is Tuesday.
Did anyone else see the irony in Steve having to talk over the music?
Evelyn, from the Junkyard, announced a raffle being put on by the Moorpark Rotary Club.  The winning prize is a trip to Maui, Hawaii with single tickets going for $20, three for $50 and eight for $100.  See Evelyn if you're interested.
Ms. Evelyn

We had a Guest Performer this week.  Mr. George Tovar entertained us with magic and jokes.  George is an actor and magician and a member of the Magic Castle.  And prior to the Covid outbreak he was the House Magician at the Junkyard for the previous 5 years.  He mentioned that the Magic Acts are coming back to the Junkyard with a first show on Wednesday, June 9th.  There's also a Close Up Magic Show on June 20th to celebrate Father's Day.  You can get more information at junkyardmagic.com.
Someone asked Mr. Tovar if he could make Bruce disappear.
Word of advice Scott - Never, ever bring a $100 bill to a Rotary meeting.  Hopefully you made it home safely.
George enjoying the Happy Face Hill hat from Bill.
