Welcome Guests
This morning we welcomed:
Claudine Schooley
Diego Velasquez
Erica Hartman
Lara Satler
Hannah Wiesehofer
Susan Joseph
Claudine Schooley and Diego Velasquez, both from Conejo Rotary Club, came to talk about a project to provide wheelchairs for Romania. One chair costs $75.
Why I'm in Rotary:
I’m in rotary because I love this community. 1st Rotary moment was my first Target Shopping Spree, when it was at Mervyn’s. And I cherish the friendships made through Rotary.
Strange, but true:
With these short little legs, I high jumped and ran hurdles in high school.
Passions, hobbies, interests:
Backpacking. Can’t get enough of the mountains.
On my bucket list:
Would like to go trekking in Nepal.
Jeff Faulwell
Farmers Insurance Group
Sales Productivity Specialist
Family: Shannon (wife), Julia and Hannah (daughters)
Why I'm in Rotary:
I grew up in this community and graduated from SVHS. My company has transferred me to different states over the years, and I always promised myself that if I was ever fortunate enough to make it back to Simi, I would become actively involved in the community. Rotary gives me plenty of opportunities to get involved. My "Rotary moment" came recently when I traveled down to the Door of Faith Orphanage in Mexico to deliver supplies with the local Interact Clubs. Watching the kids play with the toys we brought, and seeing the impact the entire experience had on our Interact students was incredible.
What people don't know about me:
I'm blind in one eye, and practically deaf in one ear. Please don't think I'm ignoring you. Just slap me if you need to get my attention.
Strange, but true:
I once was the lead singer of a post-punk rock band in LA during college. I did this for about four years.
Passions, hobbies, interests:
My family and friends of course, genealogy, music, drawing, IPA beer, The Beatles, The Dodgers, Star Wars
What are you really good at:
Being a dad.
One goal I’d like to accomplish during my lifetime:
I would like to teach abroad after I retire.
Favorite place to vacation/visit:
Carmel by the Sea, CA (it was where my wife and I spent our honeymoon)
On my bucket list:
To visit Europe-especially Ireland!
Most embarrassing moment:
Difficult to narrow it down to just one moment.
Make up your own question that will help us to know the real you: (I’m fully aware how dangerous this might be):
Why are you wasting my time with this? :-) (editor's note: talk to President Dan)
