We welcomed 45 members and guests this morning
at our virtual Zoom meeting!

We also had the wonderful opportunity to
have CJ Tardy and his mom Kellyanne join us this morning
all the way from New York.  CJ has gained fame for
saying the Pledge of Allegiance from his home each day!

If you haven't Zoomed with us please think about
joining us next week for fellowship and camaraderie!

VENMO JIM TODAY YOUR DONATION!
Senior Concerns
and Rotary
Jim Visage has been working hard on arranging for our club to work with Senior Concerns to collect and shop for food.  To date he has collected and donated 2000 lbs!

He has set a goal of 3000 lbs by May 30th and needs our help!  Please share this information on your social media pages now so we can reach this goal and help our community!

If you can donate, please either Venmo Jim (please note the dash between his name!)
(@JAMES-VISAGE)
or write and check and drop it off at his office!

The address for Jim's office is: 370 Easy Street. His email is: jim@computermetal.com. Phone: (805) 558-7100.

There is also a need for the following items:

Volunteers are still needed to shop and donations are being accepted always.

Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors Update
Kathryn Scroggin said that the applications should be given to the committee next week.  We received between 32-40 applications and we only have $12,600 to award this year.

She would like to ask for members to donate money so that we can give more scholarships out this year. Many members are stepping up to donate, and if you can donate, please reach out to Kathy now at:
Free Clinic and Welcome Sign Updates
Leigh Seaton shared information about the clean up of the Welcome to Simi sign that Matt Rowe and him did recently. He also talked about our past guest speaker Eagle Scout Josh Kort's project at the Free Clinic and how again he and Matt stepped up to do projects with him, including building a mailbox and removing plants so the flagpole could be installed.

Dr. Hani Youssef
SVUSD Assistant Superintendent
Educational Services
We had a wonderful guest speaker this morning, Dr. Hani Youssef.

He shared information on what the Simi Valley Unified School District has been doing during this pandemic.
1. Each week the district is serving 8000 breakfasts and lunches to families in need.
2. 4000 computers for students have been distributed.
3. Plans are in place to recognize seniors and they include a virtual ceremony, car parade, lawn signs and more.
4. Once school is completed, the district needs to plan how students can get items from their lockers and classrooms as well as how to collect the at-home devices from the students.

He also talked about summer school plans and what the fall might look like although no one knows for sure.
