El Rancho Simi Pioneer Cemetery
Our guest speaker today was fellow Rotarian (RC Simi Sunset) Bill Saunders from the El Rancho Simi Cemetery District. He spoke enthusiastically about the cemetery which is designated as a historical site.
The 130-year-old Pioneer Cemetery is funded through property taxes and has experienced financial difficulties in recent years. But Bill happily spoke about the health of the cemetery at this time and was especially appreciative of the efforts of Trustee Greg Stratton who passed away recently. The board recently approved an ossuary wall which will be named in Greg's memory.
The cemetery has settled any lawsuits, has money in the bank and has repaved the property. He shared his enthusiasm for the cemetery moving forward.
